Housing:

Part 9: The House - Building Structure (36 Hours)

Course Description:

This is the first course in the series of Part 9 courses. It will examine the exterior requirements for single or two-family dwellings. This course deals with plan examination and inspection of the house structure and the building envelope. The course will be a facilitated type course where the candidates work together in groups. The candidate's first works on the course material individually, then discuss the answers with the group and then a class discussion is held. The Metric system of measure will be used.

The course materials include:

Part 9: The House - Health & Safety (36 Hours)

Course Description:

This course examines the interior requirements for single and two-family dwellings. The course will be a facilitated type of course where the candidates work together in groups. The candidates first work on the course materials individually, then discuss the answers with the group and then a class discussion is held. The Metric system of measure will be used.

The course material includes:

Part 9: Building Plumbing Inspection (36 Hours)

Course Description:

This course examines the plumbing requirements for Part 9 buildings. It covers the above ground plumbing in a single-family dwelling using the MITEC House as an example. The course will be a facilitated type of course where the candidates will first work in groups, then works on the course material individually, then discuss the answers with the group and then a class discussion is held. The Metric and Imperial system of measure will be used.

The course content includes:

Wood Heat Safety (36 Hours)

Course Description:

This course examines the requirements for approved and non-approved solid-fuel burning appliances. The course will be a facilitated type of course where the participants work in groups. The participant?s first works on the course material individually, then discuss the answers with the group and then a class discussion is held. The Metric and Imperial systems of measure will be used.

The course material includes:

Municipal Building By-Law Administration (36 hours)

Course Description:

This course is designed to provide candidates with the information on issues involving the Acts and Regulations a Building Official (Inspector) may become involved with, and the Building Official?s authority and responsibility with regards to the administration and the enforcement of a Building By-Law.
